The Immersive Art Protection Plan is an interdisciplinary investigation into the psychopolitical history and future of immersive art. Projecting the immersive tactics of the Italian Futurist art movement into our present technological paradigm, I posit how improper creative uses of today’s immersive technology could spark a Neo-Futurist movement in which mass psychological manipulation is again disguised as an innovative art form. Based on this hypothesized dystopia, I explore creative and scientific approaches to identify and avoid its actuality.

RQ: How do we prevent today’s immersive art and artists from being psychologically weaponized? Is it possible to do so without limiting creative freedom?
